After the Declaration of a New Order was made and the Galactic Empire formed, the Jedi Order was declared extinct, and any remaining Jedi were to be hunted down. To carry out this task, the Empire created the Purge Troopers—specialized soldiers trained to assist the Inquisitorius in the eradication of Jedi survivors.
