How the Roblox tax works

When a player buys your game pass, developer product, or UGC item, Roblox keeps 30% of the Robux and credits the remaining 70% to you. This 30% cut is what creators call the “Roblox tax.” It is taken off the gross price, so to net a specific amount you need to price above your target — divide by 0.7.

The kept Robux can later be converted to real money through the Developer Exchange at $0.0035 per Robux (see our DevEx calculator). Engagement-based Premium Payouts are calculated differently and aren’t subject to this 30% marketplace fee.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Roblox tax?
Roblox charges a 30% marketplace fee on Robux sales of game passes, developer products, and UGC items. The developer keeps the remaining 70%. On a 1,000 Robux sale you keep 700 Robux and Roblox takes 300.
How do I calculate what I keep after the Roblox tax?
Multiply the sale price by 0.7. So a 500 Robux item nets you 350 Robux, and a 10,000 Robux pass nets you 7,000 Robux after the 30% fee.
What should I charge to net a specific amount?
Divide your target by 0.7. To keep 1,000 Robux after the fee you must price the item at about 1,429 Robux, because the 30% is taken off the gross price.
Does the 30% fee apply to everything?
It applies to on-platform Robux sales — game passes, developer products, and UGC/avatar items. Engagement-based payouts (Premium Payouts) use a different formula, and cashing earned Robux to USD is handled separately through DevEx.
