𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐄 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐄́𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐄 French Guard Skirmisher-Grenadiers 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘 "The Young Guard" The 2e Regiment of Skirmisher-Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard, was one of multiple regiments formed in 1809 from the best conscripts the nation had to offer, with an additional requirement of being able to read and write. As the regiment was junior to the more senior guard regiments, they were considered to be the "Young Guard". The Young Guard distinguished itself greatly in many battles, and most soldiers went on to higher positions in standard line regiments due to their prior status as guardsmen. As guard infantry, the men are expected to excel in discipline, loyalty, proficiency, determination, and to set the example to the army, for which they are rewarded privileges that standard regiments do not have.
