𝐃𝐄𝐔𝐗𝐈𝐄́𝐌𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐏𝐒 Polish Lancers 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘 "Los Diablos Polacos" (The Polish Devils) After the third and final partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, many Poles were left without a home, whom the Kingdom of Prussia, and Empires of Russia and Austria had annexed. Many Poles rallied to the French revolutionary cause, since France and Poland shared similar ideals of liberty and equality. When Emperor Napoleon came to power, the poles that formed the Polish legions fighting for the French Republic, were renamed the "Legion of the Vistula", and incorporated formally as a Polish Legion in the French Empire's service. Around 1000 men served in the lancer contingent of the legion. As lancers, the men are expected to fight in fast moving formations, to disorient the enemy with shock, and harass enemy cavalry.
